Alassio is irresistible to trekkers, with some of the most appealing Ligurian trails
This means a unique experience for hikers and trekkers, who can enjoy an incredible panorama from the hills overlooking the sea, and a breathtaking view of the
Gulf. You can choose, in fact, among dozens of kilometers of trails in the footsteps of ancient paths followed by shepherds and woodsmen. To name just one, the
archaeological 2,5 hours path Alassio-Albenga (by foot or by bike) from da piazzale di S. Croce, above Alassio’s Marina, where the homonymous little church is located, and its wonderful view reaching Tuscany mountains and Corsica. After a few meters, there stands the Church of Sant’Anna ai Monti. Once you reach the amphitheater,
beyond Centa river, you’re in the middle of the city of Albenga with its medieval towers. The Via Iulia Augusta takes its name from the Roman Emperor Octavian Augustus, and connected Vada Sabatia (Vado Ligure) to Arles en Provence, thus linking Rome and Gaul. Really it is one of the most appealing nature trails in Liguria – protected by archaeological and landscape restraints – and a full immersion into all typical Mediterranean colours and smells.
